I am trying to use my blackberry hooked into my laptop and then an ethernet cable to my xbox360. First let me say that I can't get any high speed of any type out here.

When I get it all hooked up my xbox lets me on but I can't play. I do the test and it says that my NAT setting is strick.

I dont think it is my laptop because I was running my xbox on dail up through my laptop and that worked. it was running at 28.8 kbps:(

So I get the internet for my BB and hook it up. 912 KBPS. That should work. Then I hook it up and d**n it!

So now I am thinking about getting a Verizon wireless USB card and hooking that to a router or my computer and then xbox.

HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!! I JUST WANT TO PLAY XBOX LIVE AND DONT KNOW HOW TO DO IT.

  1. try bridging your connections together

  2. There isn't necessarily a minimum speed required for XBL--the 912kbps you got would probably suffice... but for quicker matchmaking and smoother gameplay, you'll want something more like 1.5 or 2MBps.

As for your strict NAT setting--I know that when using a router, there's a few ports you'll have to forward to your 360.  I don't know how this works through a laptop, but you seem to know what you're talking about so hopefully that'll at least point you in the right direction.  Hope this helps at least a little, good luck man!

  3. That USB card might be your best bet.

But I'm going to tell you this, lots of people are going to HATE for the lag you're going to cause...

  4. Well, you certainly win the MacGyver award for that setup...

For this to work, your laptop will need 2 separate network connections.  One is from your laptop to your blackberry, for internet access.  The other is from your laptop to the 360.  Most people who use this setup are using the laptop's wireless connection to connect to their internet router (or in your case, the blackberry) and then using the laptop's ethernet port to connect to the 360.

Be aware that if you are connecting the 360 directly to your laptop, you need to use a crossover ethernet cable.  This is a special cable designed for connecting two computers together without using a hub  or a switch in between.  These cables are sold where-ever regular ethernet cables are sold.  Be sure you get one that's a different color than your regular ethernet cables (e.g. orange or yellow) as you don't want to confuse them later on.

Once that's done, and your laptop is able to use your blackberry to access the internet, you then need to configure internet connection sharing (ICS) on your laptop.  The wizard should walk you through the setup.
