I live with sister & bro-in-law. He opens my mail. Do I have any legal grounds to go after him?

He says he didn't realize it wasn't for him, but all my bank statements are opened. I'm not looking to get a PO Box; I'm looking to go after him if I can.

Thanx.

  1. Because this is your family and you only have one of them, ask him not to and if it still persists I would go and get a P.O. box. If it is accidental it will stop, if it doesn't it isn't.

  2. It's a federal offense, so I would say that you have some amount of legal recourse.  Unless you both have the same name, it's perfectly reasonable to expect him to understand the difference between your mail and his.

  3. its called mail fraud i would just talk to him about it though and let him know u feel uncomfortable with him not respecting your privacy. but yes if it doesnt stop i would look into getting a  PO box. but i wouldnt file any criminal chrges like that against your siblin especailly when your living with them or  looking for a po box wont be the only thing to look into (u might need a place to stay too )

  4. uh yeah, it's a legal thing.

Personally, I'd warn him, that if he did it again, I'd kick him in the nuts.

    Just sayin.

  5. Calm down, he just searching for Weapons Of Mass Destruction.

  6. You are living in his house and would rather bring legal(criminal) action against him than either get a PO box or move out? If you do the former you will almost certianly be moving out anyway so why not move out now?
