Miss Maple

The weaker Maple hit third

gear and punched the wind wildly

sacrificial leaves led the torrent

elsewhere while she held out hope

banking on her anchors

in the ground as she watched

the mighty Oak give up and give

out, wooden flesh runaways

screamed for help as they spun

the futile descent to fire-

wood and flower sh*t.

  2. Good one!  Makes me think of the big oak tree I found yesterday that blew over in the storm of this past weekend.  It uprooted and split so I can't really justify paying somebody to saw it into lumber for me is it's gonna find it's way to my firewood pile, it will not have died in vain.

  10. Very well put Buk.. I reckon a tree is stout like us women. Nearly cried when i had to give up my old pine tree that was blown over by high winds.Then again when i had to give up my 2 ornamental pear trees. But i guess it like a woman past her prime . Sooner or later they have to go.That poem made me think and know we cant last forever. Thanks.
