If you want a place for relaxation i recommend

Makrigialos Crete

or

Plakias, Crete

Plakias is closer to the main airports and port of Rethymnon

and Makrigialos is closer to the area of Sitia

both of these villages have great food and countryside near them.

If you are more the party type i would recomend staying in Athens http://Airotel.gr (hotels), the island of Corfu, or Hania
