I looked at my bank statement online and my debit card number was stolen and used online?

the charge was pending when i saw it and disputed it with the bank. this was on tuesday. i just checked and they let the charge go through! now i have no money. is there still a chance that i will get my money back since the charge is no longer pending? it was a visa check card.

  1. When a charge is pending it means the bank, supposedly, is unable to stop it.  No one can really explain why a charge has to be in this limbo state before posting to an account but thats how they do it.  You need to report a fraudulent charge right away and close that account. One thing about a debit card is that in most cases the bank WILL allow it to continue to be used even when it has a negative balance. That's how they nail you with overdraft fees.  So close the account and report the charge.  Yes, in most cases they will refund you the stolen amount but it can take up to three months.  


  2. You need to get on the phone quickly with your bank and dispute the charges/losses.


  3. You have to call the bank and keep nagging them about it.  do not wait any longer.  Please demand that the money be returned to the account, which will probably happen when they finish the investigation and find out this was not an authorized transaction.
