my family has been with AT&T/Cingular for over 20 years and all 4 of us get nice expensive phones every time we get a new upgrade---we now have a razer, blackjack, blackberry, and i [until of week ago] had a pan-tech duo. the people at AT&T wont give me an early upgrade cause its in january. i found this thing on there website that said there are exceptions for getting an upgrade--if your a loyal costumer, have been with them for awhile, etc etc. and my family IS! but they still wont give us the upgrade!

PLEASE HELP!

  1. I'm having the same problem. We used to get new cell phones about every year (my dad and I really suck at keeping phones.. alive), but ever since they changed to AT&T, our upgrading options changed. Now we all have to wait until our two year contract is actually up before they'll let us upgrade (mine also in January. I'm dying. I'm using a broken phone I used to use three years ago). If you have your sim card anywhere, buy a go phone and use that. Otherwise, call them and ask what the cheapest phone they have is and buy it. If that isn't going to work for you... then just spend the $200 on a good one.

  2. Customer service is customer service and if they want to keep your business, then they will recess, you just have to make a fuss.  Keep reminding them that you've been a loyal customer and if the customer rep is being rude or won't budge, either escalate or hang up and get a new rep on the line that might be of better service, it's a toss up who you will talk to.  I have ATT for my internet and they make all sorts of recessions for me, especially if i'm at a high level of frustration.   Good luck!

  3. just get a cheap phone untill your upgrade kicks in

    not a big deal

  4. It really depends on how long it has been since your last upgrade. if it has  only been a few months then you need to look into getting another phone until you get approved. if it has been a year call customer service again and ask about possibly paying the 1 upgrade price rather than the 2 year. everytime at&t gives you the phone at the discounted price they lose money on the phone. for example your duo cost them about 500 dollars and you got it for aroung 200 with the upgrade.....this is why they can only let you upgrade every so often....if they still won't approve you look on ebay for a phone and next time make sure you get insurance.
