  1. Try your consulate. I know that when I lost my license traveling in the states, I could not get a replacement until I returned to my home state. Your Embassy represents your homeland..

  2. probly not

they yell at me for having a Ct one in MA

  3. ya

  4. i dont think so.

  5. you may not get your german license renewed while in the US

even if you are not an US citizen, driver's license are not issued in any other country.

it must be done in Germany (only )

  6. Go to AAA and Apply for an International Driver's License,

or go online..there are plenty of Automoble Clubs that offer

Driver's Licenses for drivers that are travelrs.

  7. Apply for an exam at the local DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles). Don't forget to study the typical American traffic stuff where it differs from German rules (hand signs, etc.), take the written test (nowadays on computer) and go for the exam. It's not at all expensive like in Europe and the exam is 100 times easier to pass.

Voila, you'll have your US credit card sized drivers license in no time. Remember, it's only valid for 4 years or so...

Good of having this US DL is that in general it's better accepted as ID then your German pasport.  Some stores don't accept anything else when you want to write out a personal check.
