Unless you can physically go to the town clerk where you were born to obtain a copy, you are out of luck.

you can order a new one, at cost, from you local register offer...dont think that you will be able to get it that quick though...

Seriously though.  You will most likely have to go to the office which issued it and request a copy.  This may be difficult if you've moved away from where you were born!

If you don't live in the same state you were born in, basically you're screwed.

If you do, in most states you can go in person to the Department of Vital Records and request a copy of your birth certificate.  Go to the state Department of Vital Records website for the state you were born in and see exactly what you need to do in either case to order a copy of your birth certificate. A hint if you happen to have been born in California (or Nevada)--the DVR in those states don't provide birth certificates in person--but the county clerk's offices do.

you can call the hospital you were born at and ask them to send you a copy or you can ask them to email you a copy...

go to the county city building in the county you were born and they will give you a copy for around 5 dollars

you can go down to the s.s. office and they will give you a temp. until they send it to you in the mail the same thing happened to me
