Question:

I lost my cat! How can I get him back?

He's usually an indoor cat with occasional 10 minute trips outside, never leaving the front lawn.

Around 8 PM on Monday, August 4th, we realized he had not come back from one of these 10 minute trips starting around noon.

We have taken the following actions:

-hung up missing posters

-contacted the local humane society

-inquired to our immediate neighbors

PLEASE HELP!!!

ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS??

  1. look around your yard incase he got stuck in a tree or under the steps

  2. If he's an un-neutered male he probably found a willing girlfriend and will be back when he's made a litter of kittens.

  3. Maybe if you put catnip outside your door, he'll show up. Everytime I do that, every cat w/in a mile radius shows up. If he's not neutered, get him done when he comes back. I've had that problem w/ my male dog. He stayed gone for 3 weeks!

  4. www.craigslist.org

Go there and post your missing ad WITH a picture under both the "pets" and "lost and found" catagories. Also, put an add in your local newspapers. It is not adequate to just look in your immediate area, as someone may have picked him up and taken him home across town. I've seen several happy endings on Craigslist, so do give it a shot.

  5. ur not gonna find him on the web

u've done all u can do...i lost my cat but it came back a month later...give it time

  6. I know how stressed you must be Ive been through the same thing One thing you can do is call the police They can be a big help So they can see if any of the officers on the road pass him Print out a picture of your cat have your address and any other additional information you might want to add and place it in the mailbox of everyone in your surrounding area within 2-3 blocks of your home Because having your immediate neighbors notified is good But having everyone in your neighborhood on the lookout will increase the chances of finding him You can also have a posting in the newspaper with a picture or a description Put up the missing posters on businesses (of coarse you have to ask the store owners or managers if its ok first) Then always keep a window open or a door So if he comes back and starts meowing He can be heard Also always go outside and check around the area a few times a day to see if hes out there Bring some treats or a toy that he likes and shake it around so he can hear it and come out if hes close and in hiding I really wish you luck I know it has to be killing you not knowing where he is But if and when you find him Be sure to watch him everytime he goes outside from now on Or at least get a collar with your address and his name So if this ever happens again It will be easier to get him back I really wish you luck in finding him Im sure hes missing you as much as you are missing him

  7. go out call his name he might be around

  8. Start going to your neighbors houses and asking them if they've seen him- go out on long walks and look for him.

  9. Is he neutered?  If not, he may have picked up on the scent of a female in heat.  He may be gone for a few days.  Also, unneutered males have a tendency to wander.

You may want to buy a humane trap.  Load it up with some strong smelling stuff, like tuna, and he may come back to get some.  Just be aware OTHER animals may come looking for it too.  We were trying to catch a squirrel who was eating our siding, and we walked outside to find a very angry opossum instead.  Just keep in mind that if you do catch a different animal that you shouldn't hurt it.  Find a safe way to release it and let it go on its way.

    Good luck finding your cat....

  10. put out fish near your door

but watch out for other animals

  11. how do you lose your cat for 9 hours and not know he's gone?

does he have tags or is he microchipped?

  12. it probably got catnapped

    i'm sorry for your loss

  13. In our area you have to check the hmane society everyday and even ask to see the ones in quarantine.  This is where they put the ones that fight as they appear to be feral.  Even house kitties get ticked when the man picks them up.  I found my neighbors cat that way.  They said he was wild...I walked in and called his name and he started meowing and purring.  My neighbor never lets her cat out.  I only let mine out when I am out with them on our patio area.  For owners that have a fenced yard there is a product featured in Cat Fancy called Cat fence in that keeps strays out and your cats in. It really works, too.

Another place to look is in garages curiosity is a cats nature.  Also check under the buildings cats love the spider webs, etc. Keep an eye on your posters on your street if someone takes them down they may have your cat if he is a friendly cat.
