  1. Let me see -- you had the last bottle of eye cleaner in your city.  Because you checked at Walgreens to buy another bottle...... Go and buy another bottle of cleaner...

  2. You can buy it at any local pharmacy.

  3. please do not use brita water, while of course filtered water is cleaner than unpurified water there could still be microbial pathogens in the water that you may be unaware of.  additionally, even pure water does not match the correct composition of a contact lens solution which has been formulated to be compatible with your eyes while at the same time cleaning and disinfecting your lenses.  the contact lens solution also creates a stable storage environment for the lens and storing it in pure water may damage the lens and also it will feel rather uncomfortable upon re-insertion to your eye.

stop by your local pharmacy as soon as possible to pick up a new bottle of multi-purpose contact lens solution.  a couple dollars is much worth the hassle instead of endangering the health of your eye.  if you're not sure which type to get (there are a lot of brands and it can be confusing), definitely ask the pharmacist for assistance.

for a little more information, there are some do's and dont's related to contact lens care listed here on the American Optometric Association's website http://www.aoa.org/x5235.xml

    edit:

if your eye is extremely red, this is could be a bad sign.  i would advise you seek eye care as soon as possible in case there is anything that could compromise the health of your eye.

as for contact lenses being bad for you, if they are used correctly like any medical treatment or device they should not be harmful to you but if not taken care of properly they can be a source of problems.

  4. Brita water would do fine until you can get more.

  5. Do you have a bottle of saline? While they do not provide cleaning and disinfecting abilities, they can be used as a temporary way of keeping your contacts in good condition - moist and usable.

Keep them in saline if you do and head over you your local pharmacy/chemist for solution at your earliest convenience.

Filtered water may still contain bacteria which are harmful to the eyes. Every optometrist/optician will tell you not to expose your contacts to water.
