  1. The first thing you need to do is to protect yourself.

If your card is lost or stolen, federal law protects you from owing more than $50 per card-but only if you report that the card was lost or stolen within two days of discovering the loss or theft. If you suspect

any fraudulent purchases, you may be asked to sign a statement under oath that you did not make the purchase(s) in question.

    • File a report with the police immediately and keep a copy.

    • Cancel your credit cards. Call the issuer(s) immediately. Many

companies have 24-hour toll-free numbers to deal with such

emergencies. The number is on your monthly statement.

    • Get new cards with new account numbers.

    • Call the fraud departments of the major credit reporting

agencies, and ask each agency to put a “fraud alert” on your

    account:

    Equifax 1-800-525-6285

    Experian 1-888-397-3742

    TransUnion 1-800-680-7289

    • Report the loss to the fraud department of the bank where you

have your checking and savings accounts. Ask about the next

steps regarding your accounts, including your ATM or debit

    card.

    • Review your credit reports regularly and have them corrected

    when necessary.

    • Report a missing driver’s license to your state department of

  2. That really bites, dude.  I have had that happen to me more than once.  I agree, call your credit agencies and freeze your accounts.  Hopefully, someone nice will find it and return it to you or the local cop shop.

  3. Relax bro, just let it flow, and hope that whoever finds it, will turn it into a nearby police station. $400 is not much, can be earned back in a few days of hard work, so don't fret over it. Also, call your credit card companies and tell them to freeze your accounts, so that they may transfer you to new ones. Cash , license, bank cards can be replaced, rare family pictures cannot, so go back and retrace your biking paths.

  4. cancel cards, retrace your steps....

don't keep anything irreplaceable in your wallet next time...

  5. cancel all the cards and have new ones issued, get a new license card.

    beyond that, it's a writeoff.

  6. First look outside your home to see if you dropped your wallet. if not as  suggested cancel all credit cards. Then put the account on fraud alert through Trans Union Fraud Dept. Their toll free # 1-800-680-7289. They will notify the other 2 bureaus for you and has to be renewed every 90 days.
