Why don't you call the airline instead of relying on a bunch of people who are probably going to give you the wrong answer anyway?

The temporary ID is better than nothing.  Call the airline.  They may or may not be any help to you.  Bring as many forms of ID that you have and arrive early.  According to the TSA, "passengers who do not present an acceptable ID may be subject to additional screening".  There are provisions to let you fly, but it's not nearly as straight forward as if you have proper ID.  See http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/a... for details.

You should be asking in the travel section, as this is for questions about aircraft.  However, you can get by without a picture ID.  You will be screened differently from everyone else, but it is possible.  I would suggest arriving at the airport very early.  And, any government ID is acceptable.  Got a passport?  License to carry a weapon?  Airport ID badge?  Any of those will work.  I also agree that you should call the airline first, as some airports have different rules.  Good luck.

The LAW reads... GOVERNMENT ISSUED PHOTO ID... if your temporary ID is government issued and is a PHOTO ID... then you can use it.. otherwise... NO.
