First it was a felony then the charge got reduced to a misdemeanor. Today I went to arraignment and I'm enrolled in this diversion program.

The probation person said that the felony still shows on my record, how can that be if the charges were reduced???

I hope this doesn't hurt my employment potential.

Once I'm finished with the program the charges will be dropped. This is a really trying time for me. please advise

I have no priors and this is hard

  1. At some point in time, the party has to come to an end. Spent a good deal of time on the circuit, and i think back to a lot of  well let's just simplify it and refer to it as waste. But, I kept on keeping on. You know the old saying, so some where in between heaven and h**l, try to have a little fun, just know when to say when.

  2. Your record will show a felony until you complete the program. Unfortunately it will hurt your chances with employment depending on what the felony charge was for.

Example retail theft... it will be hard because people will think you would steal from them..

Assault - is hard because they might be worried about your temper.

The only thing you can do is turn to family and friends for support.

And if employers ask about it... Be completely honest. They will respect that more then a wimpering person complaining about how it's hard.//

    Good luck

  3. If the Judge said the charges will be dropped you still have to apply to get your record expunged. I know-been there done that.  I had no priors either and the charge was BS!  I did have to do what they wanted. You got to play the game-like it or not.  Whatever your task do it and do it well.

If you have anything on your record it will hurt your employment opportunities!

  4. First of all, sorry to hear that from you ... You should know that "Nobody is perfect" and everyone should have a hard time in their life ...

Just like you I'm not the happy man because I got so many bad thing happen in my life ... but still you have to move on, don't look to the past, look to the future ... Hope you'll feel better soon and using your time for your future stuff

  5. You must successfully complete the diversion program in order for the felony to be reduced to a misdemeanor.  It will continue to show as a felony until you do so.

Take a deep breath, look to family for help, and don't blame anyone else but yourself.  You are responsible for your own actions and you have to make things happen.

  6. WOW, my heart goes out to you, but I also ting that with some caution.  Felony?  Hmmmm, I am in a supervisory position, and yes something like that would affect some decisions.

However, completing the diversion program, being truly remorseful, and living a changed life goes a long way on moving on and demonstrates to people that you have moved on.

I hate to sound like a PR firm for counseling, but job and life counseling may suit you also.

Let your entire focus be on getting in and learning as much as you can in the diversion program.  And apply the lessons to your life.

These are some questions you may want to ask of your probation officer also.  They will help you if you really want help.

May God bless and look out over your.

  7. WHAT IS THE OFFENSE charge against you, you didn't told us here. If it is a felony then it will reflect on your record. If it is reduce to a misdemeanor nevertheless, it is still falls under a felony charge, therefore you still have a record of such offense.

I suppose not it will hurt your potential employment targets in the future. It was reduced remember, so under the file it will written under misdemeanor, nonetheless it still shows that you have an offense. So whatelse could you do but finished the program and it will be dropped. I know it is a trying times for you, so if you didn't do the felony you wouldn't be in these mess would you? SO YOU DONOT LIKE TO DO THE TIME DON'T DO THE CRIME, simple isn't it but we people couldn't put that in our heads.
