I have several medical conditions that would keep me from getting a job with a different employer. I had 14 years in same job. Can't compete with younger workers until my medical issues are resolved. Where can I go to get help so I can go on disability in California

  1. The other postee made some great points to fill out the disability application at the local social security administration (ssa) office and after getting denied (almost always happens and may even occur a couple of times), obtain a social security lawyer (found in yellow pages or better yet, through a referral) that Only takes a percentage of the client's (you :) backpay if ssa approves the claim.  That should be stated in the contract so please do read the fine print before signing if do 'hire' a lawyer.

In order to be approved for permanent disability, one must prove through medical documentation and medical reports that they are unable to work at Any job due to their ailments.  That means anything from a rather sendentary job as a toll collector, a file clerk to nurse administrator.

    More info on ssa:  http://www.ssa.gov

  2. goto social security office and fill out a form. when they send you a denial letter, take it 2 a lawyer right away.. do not let it expire.., keep appealing your case.. and from the day you filled out the form and the day you get approved, will be like money in the bank and they will send you all the back pay.. just don't let your case close or you will have 2 start all over again.. chances are they will send you 2 their dr.. but will also get your medical history from your doctors in the past.. good luck on that..
