  1. The Face might be a book in which you are interested. The main antagonist is a rather wicked man, but behind the scenes there are spiritual beings and some twists to go along with it. I loved this one.

Hideaway has both Heavenly and hellish beings. You might like that one. In fact, so far this is one of the few that had a movie made which I enjoyed. It wasn't perfect, but it was decent. It starred Jeff Goldblum and Alicia Silverstone.

Phantoms is a true horror story, with a creature that is an ancient evil. This one creeped me out. The movie, with Ben Afleck, changed things and left too much out, in my opinion.

I haven't read it yet, but I saw the movie: The Servants of Twilight. This one has a type of cult trying to kill a boy they believe to be the antichrist. My brother read the book and said it was much better than the movie (which changed some important things). From my brother's description (without spoilers), this book doesn't have - precisely - a happy ending.

From the Corner of His Eye is one of my favorites so far. There aren't supernatural creatures, per se, but it does refer to quantum physics and worlds that exist side-by-side with ours. It's fascinating.

I'm working my way through books by Dean Koontz. Except for Odd Thomas, I haven't read any with ghosts (besides The Face - though it's not EXACTLY a ghost in The Face).

In The Darkest Evening of the Year, there is definitely a supernatural element. It is also a very good book.

Fear Nothing and Seize the Night - the two Christopher Snow books - are great. However, it's not precisely supernatural elements you see. There is something otherworldly, but the greater part of the menace is more from man-made experimentation (like in Watchers...another great one).

The Taking is apocalyptic in nature, but there is also an otherworldly angle to it. It's another good one.

Those are all that come to mind just now. Hopefully this helps. Happy reading!

BTW: So far I've been mostly disappointed in the films made from some of his books. I have yet to see Sole Survivor, Intensity and Mr. Murder, however. I keep hoping!

  2. In addition to the books that have already been mentioned, you might try Strangers. There is a definite supernatural feeling to this and you aren't sure quite what is going on for the first half of the book.

The Bad Place also features some very weird goings on that might be considered sci-fi/horror/supernatural and a kind of happy/sad ending that is usually featured in a Koontz book.

From the Corner of His Eye and One Door Away From Heaven are a kind of a nice, sweet story wrapped up in some definite weirdness.

I also really enjoyed Watchers, but that is more sci-fi/thriller, yet still an excellent read.

And you should give Odd Thomas another try - the story really does have a happy ending, and I think this is one of his best books.
