I'm 21 years old and soon to be a junior in college. Normally me and my dad get along fairly well. But this summer has been a problem. I'm a picky eater. Not so bad there is nothing I will eat but my dad in an attempt get healthy later in life will only get low fat, organic and any number of things that make the food inedible to me. He ignores my requests to get even the basics: bread, tortillas, meats, crackers, chips. Gets food brings it home then doesn't understand why I'm starving all the time as I struggle to find more than one meal a day. Basicly I live off cereal as it was the only thing my body could handle.

Well after a while enough was enough and my hunger led to an arguement. Which led to a physical fight. Unfortunately, its not the first one. I left home 3 years ago for the same reason. Now once again he's trying to beg forgiveness and get me to come home. He pays for my college so walking away means giving up alot. But I'm not sure I can handle staying with someone capable of this.

  1. tell him to listen to u more  but i mean foodwise but u shouldnt eat too much junk food or u'll gain fat but if u eat fruits like i do and drink a lot of water and fruit juices and basically follow the whole food pyramid, u can be fit  and healthy but i mean ask ur dad not to go crazy healthy i mean if thats what u think hes doing but just tell him clamy and nicely that he shouldnt go to healthy but u can OCCASIONALLY eat junk food, i mean like whenever i dont have any fruits,  Yoplait Original Yogurt or healthy snacks like if we have to make a trip to the store sooon i usually would have to resort to junk food for a short whiil but uve got to stay healthy and  fit and ur dad will be happy too and i know u wont get in another fight with ur dad again and if u eat healthy foods and work out right ull gain pounds of muscle like Michael Phelps did and u should go swimming to be fitter too

  2. what you need to do is get a job and buy your own food, Period! problems will end.

  3. Gigi nailed it.

You are getting your school paid for, get a job and buy the food you want. How about thanks dad for paying for school and putting a roof over my head etc. Or having enough common courtesy for him to get a job and help out with the finances.

Did you instigate the fight and who got physical first? You left out that information. You are an adult your dad does not have to just take your abuse either. If he truly was abusive I am sorry, but if you just got in a fight because you are being an ungrateful kid then quit complaining.

  4. You're 21 years old, your Dad pays for your college, you're not paying rent and you can't buy your own food? I'm a picky eater too, so I buy my own food and cook it. You can't blame your Dad, it's his house, his money, you're an adult now. Find a part time job, earn a little money and buy your own food. What would you do if you rented a small apartment. You would buy your own food and cook it or eat out. Why are you starving. That's your choice. Time to become more independent. Buy some food, get along with your Dad that's helping to give you a college education for your future, study, get good grades and enjoy life. Life's too short, enjoy you Dad, and appreciate him, love him unconditionally. If you think about it, who else would do this for a 21 year old adult but your parents.

  5. It is not his responsibility to feed you or provide you with a place to live.  I would have been ashamed to live off of someone else when I was 18, never mind 21.  Grow up!

  6. Think good. If you have doubts, then don't go...cuz you never know. Better safe than sorry. Iff he is the one that you depend ont to get u the food u need then are you guaranteed that wen u go bad he will be able to fulfill that need that you have? If you are now able to get your own food then you know that thts not going to be a problem again if u go back. It's all up to u hun...i can only imagine but you know him better...do what you think is best ok. Hope I helped :)
