  1. Hello there Bert,

there's only one area of my country that I would honestly recommend to you Sir, bring all your tenting stuff to my home county of Galway, So much to see, do, and enjoy, and if you prefer mountains, well, we have those too, especially Connemara,or The Slieve Auchty range, or even the Galway Bay coast, take your choice of beaches, you will probably have one to yourself anyway. and even in the most unassuming pub there may well be music and a great welcome from all to a stranger who is prepared to share a story, or a song or two, make them up as long as they entertain. and just relax and have fun. you can go fishing on the Loch Corrib , or if you just want to do nothing, there are plenty of people that will help you to get that done to your complete satisfaction too, on the day you arrive in Ireland, pick yourself up a guide book, and look for the green shamrock wherever you go, and be sure of a great welcome from members of the Irish Tourist Bord...known as BORD FAILTE' You may well see myself now, sitting on a large rock in Eyre Square Gardens, that's me with the little bowler type hat on my bronzed head, come and be seated next to me, and I will share a tale or two with you, and even listen to your own ones.

our food is simple and so very tasty and fulfilling, and you will not be charged the arms and legs from you to enjoy it, buses are frequent all over Galway covering most points of your compass, all we ask is to show a little kindness, and you will reap great mounds of the same unto yourself Sir, I hope to see you in my County, Bert, I am the one with the permanent smile on my big face, good luck now, and understand this sign, 'Caed Mile Failte' it's simply means, a 'hundred thousand welcomes' and I mean every one of them....... Bye for now.............Tony M

  3. There is a brilliant book called Round Ireland with a Fridge - by Tony Hawks, you have to read this book as it will give you some great ideas about where to go, its hilarious. The guy in the book went to an actual place called Muff, its near Dongeal, on the North/South border so you should definitely make a trip there. It would be priceless to say that you put your tent up in Muff!

  4. There are the most amazing places in Ireland but if you go around the east coast it is fantastic.you will be on the shores of the Atlantic.

    Hope this helps

    Bonn Voyage.

  5. There are some Beautiful Places all round the Coast .Wicklow, Waterford.West Cork, Killarney in Kerry is my Favourite.Co Clare, Sligo, Donegal, To Numerous to mention them all. The Mountains of Mourne over the border in Northern Ireland. Read Lonely Planet or look up there Web Site its great for Information on Hostels and Campsites and Prices.

  6. Millets

  7. I'd suggest Waterford.Theres several seaside campsites along the coast Tramore(very touristy ) Bonmahon(sand dunes and good for surfing) Clonea(just outside Dungarvan, big site mainly good for the beach) Ardmore(picture postcard village with a Round Tower)as well as some smaller campsites along the border with Tipperary,Clogheen springs to mind as its at the foot of the mountains. Waterford isnt quite as busy as the like of Cork or kerry or Wicklow and Wexford.Plus its got great scenery and restaurants and nightlife too.
