  1. looks like we have something in common. i have played volleyball for 10yrs. and i still can't jump high enough to block. i'm only 5ft 2in! what i do all the time is stand infront of a volleyball net ( anywhere you might have one) and just jump for like 30 min. i just had a tournment on Oct.2, and i blocked!! i actually got a point form blocking. you just have to practice and keep working hard. what hepls me stretch is i pull me arms as far as they will go and stretch upward! i know you can do it and it you have any questions please fell free to email me! i hope i helped and good luck! :)

  2. set standards for yourself, i dont jump high but then again i dont have to im 6 foot, but like our other middle is 5 6 and she cant jump worth of c**p and it pisses me off but anyways! if i were you just concentrate on jumping and your approach rather then hitting the ball(during practice that is) if you work on fundamentals everything else will come into place

  3. Basically the only way to improve your jump is to JUMP.  Not just like jump rope, but jumping UP on things.  Our VB team has a workout that has three bases each higher than the last that are spread out.  They start at the lowest, jump up jump down, jump up, jump down, jump up, jump down.  The last one obviously is the hardest.

BUT, I agree that a full and correct approach will help.  If when you take your two steps forward toward the net, arms up, and then lower your arms and bend completely down for a full push with arms going upward, you will see a better springing action and probably be able to get higher.

There are some good answers to antoher person who asked about verticles who really detailed some good ones also. Search for that.

  4. skip rope mountain climbers and running are all good

  5. Just keep practicing and practicing. If you still go to school you can try high jummping in track durring gym class. It is cool and it will help you. Just keep practicing though and it will all work out. NEVER GIVE UP! Good luck.

  6. Play lots of sand ball.  When I go back to the wood courts I'm jumping sky high.  I also like to run up the steps on my tippy-toes.  It stretches out the calves.  I learned the tippy-toe trick from someone that used these shoes
