  1. what r some of the things u need help on

  2. When setting the ball, put your hands above your head in the shape of the ball. If your hands were not there, the ball should bounce off of your forehead like you were heading a soccer ball. A good set will have little or no rotation on the ball.

When spiking, take a four step approach to the net. The 3rd and 4th steps should be quick to stop you in your place (right in front of the net). Your arms should be swinging backwards at this point as if you were trying to jump as high as you can. Hit the ball as high as you can and snap your wrist.

  3. well you could try going to some camps.and maybe getting a hitting coach/private lessons.

also you can do little drills at your house on your own

  4. hey me too! i am going to try out for the girls volleyball team at Grove. Most of the players are good so i have a slim chance. But i am still practicing. Try to hit the ball against the wall or have someone practice with you that is on the schools team.

  5. go to see pro matches  or cllegiate matches and immitate them and learn and practice the way they play and use it in matches

  6. The best way to get better is to find someone who will work with you.  If you can't get a full team togerther, "pepper" is a great way for two people to work together and it works on the basics of ball control.

"Pepper" is where you start with a bump pass to your partner, he/she sets it back to you and you spike it back to him/her.  The longer you can do this the better control you have.

I agree with Jenna on many of her items.  Most of all have fun, don't get down when you can't do everything well.  I am a terrible spiker but can block and dig with the best and my teammates appreciate that.

    Work hard and have fun!

  7. practice bumping and setting with yurself if you have a friend who plays you can Pepper Pepper is where you start witha toss then the other person bumps it to you you set it them they spike to you you want to try to keep it going so after she spike you bump she set you spike bump set spike etc etc

  8. name specific skills you're having trouble mastering...

  9. add to your question and say what you need help on. but if u dont add anything then i suggest practicing every single day and being confident when u do so!!

  10. Many things to say!!

    On serving:

Its all in the hips, just get that rotation like a snap!  also, your lob should be at a good angle above your head and slightly in front

    On Digging:

Sprawls are fun, but dont get carried away, the longer your on your feet the better.  for get hand position, make a fist with one hand, and take the other putting it around so that thumbs are flat a nd parallel, then c**k your wrists a lil for control... dont forget to get down low!

    On setting:

hit balls only with your fingertips! -noduh-  and be careful for double hits...  try hitting against a wall and first hitting it real high, then medium, the low, then medium then high... etc...

    On teamwork:

Always talk, whether its a congratulation or encouragement...  give advice if you can to those who are confused, theyll thank you for it!

    On Rotation:

Always make sure you know your position in the rotaion whether you play setters middles outsides, or some other wacky way...  make sure its clear waht system your running! ex: 4-2, 6-1  etc...

    On pregame!!

STRETCH NICE AND LONG!!!  wall squats are excellent and so is serving against a wall...

hope it helps, much love, fellow vb player
