Question:

I love volleyball but....?

the last two days of practice I haven't wanted to go! I don't know why but I haven't. I have fun and that right after we do our warm ups which I hate. I think it might be cause I don't like our warm ups. what can I do about the warm ups? I absoulutly hate them! All it is is basicly running which just tires us out before we even get to practice. What can I do?

  1. Warm ups are there to help u. Dont give up, if ur good or even if ur not u might regret not playing volleyball if u decide to.  All sports are hard, ur not gonna love every minute of them.  


  2. Well, i think I understand that.

    5/6 years ago when i learned volleyball, believe or not, i feel like that too!

    I very lazy to strecth and warm up.. And there many type of running..

    I didn't like them too..

    But, then my coach tell me the purpose of that warm up, then i wanna tell U the purpose now.

    Warm up, it's for our body flexibility.

    Then those run it's for our endurance.

    Volley needs endurance.. So if before practice game we already tired, we must practice more and more.

    My suggestion is enjoy it.. Warm up is important parts of practices, even the pro's still do it!!

    And those running kind, Pro volleyball team put it in their drills!!

  3. Basically you cant do anything about the warmups. You have to do them to stretch your body and then running is good for getting your heart going. Trust me, i hate running and stretching too, but each time you think about not wanting to go to practice, think about how much you like it AFTER the running and stretching. And you say you don't like running before practice, but imagine running after you practice, you would be tired from practice already, and you have to think the whole practice you have to run at the end. I think over time you will get use to the warming up, but just before you go to practice dont think about the warming up, think about playing and getting better, hope this helps!!  

  4. Don't let some stupid WARM UPS ruin your love for the game! Why don't you talk to whoever's in-charge?? Get your team together and suggest a joint opinion. Instead of running and wearing yourself out, try some light jogging, some jumping-jacks - stuff like that! If the whole team talks together (which is what TEAMS are about) you'll have fun AND maintain the love for volleyball! Good luck!

  5. The honest truth believe me, running will only make you stronger and have better speed endurance during games, warm ups will only make you feel better after every hard practice. If you feel like not showing up maybe volleyball isn't for you because volleyball isn't just some sort of for fun game, its dedication to get better, and hard work to achieve what your there for!

    I had v-ball 2day and I showed up about 5-10 minutes late 2 miss the warmups(I hate them also!) But they do help, so always stretch before the game
