  1. If your wife is here on a student visa, you can work, but NO MORE THAN 20 hours per week. Your wife can work 20 hours per week during the semester and unlimited hours during official breaks, but you are only allowed to work for 20 hours even during semester breaks. So no, you can't drive a cab full time.

If your wife was granted her Student visa before 26 April 2008, you must apply for Permission to Work. If she has not yet applied for Permission to Work, she and her dependent family members may only apply for it after she has started her course in Australia. If the visa was granted after 26 April, 2008, Permission to Work is automatic and no application is required.

If your wife is here on some other type of visa, give us more details so you get an accurate answer for that type of visa.

  2. if you are in Australia on your spouses visa you can work, depending when your spouse was granted her visa you may have to apply for a work visa first

  3. Not sure about this one. Best to avoid trouble and ring up Dept Immigration and ask.
