  1. To answer this properly people will want to know what Software you used to burn the disc.

Are you sure it is formatted correctly? for use on home DVD players etc.

Check the file's extension, if its a movie and you happen to have downloaded it it is 70% chance going to be using Divx codecs which some players will not support.

  2. a lot of older dvd players can't play burned discs. try the dvd on another dvd player that was manufactured more recently.

  3. assuming the dvd you copied is not commercial dvd that is encrypted, if you copied a self made dvd you have to remember to finalize before you can play on stand alone dvd, in burn options of your dvd authoring program, you should have had an option for finalize, non finalized dvd will play on computer but willnot play on stand alone DVD players

  4. The only way it would work on a DVD player is if you BURNED something to it like a video. You just COPIED them onto a DVD so it's only going to work on a computer.

  5. Normaly DVD players -like your Sony player- only play "Audio" files unless they were equipped with an added option to play MP3 files as well.

So to be able to listen to your music via your DVD Player, instead of simply "copy"ing your MP3 files onto a disk, you have to "burn" the files so they would be transformed from MP3 or other format into Audio files.

You can burn MP3 files using Real Player or Windows Media Player. You cannot, however, burn RM or RA files using these two players.

    That's it.
