I made a correction on my FAFSA a week ago. When Do i get the results?

I wanted to know when do i know how much i am going to get back with an EFC of 0 and im going to go to a community college and when do i start receiving my checks? Do i have to go to the school to get it?

  1. New students usually don't get any money until a couple of weeks into the semester.  And yes, unless you've given them bank account info, you have to go in and get it.  Some folks don't get enough to cover all the costs so they get no money, just a bill.  I would call your schools fin aid office and see what they say you need to do next.  Chances are, if you make a correction, you will be required to prove the information is correct and may need to turn in additional information.


  2. Your school's Financial Aid Office will contact you via email or snail mail to let you know the next step.  You may need to provide additional documentation (for verification) or they may simply send you an award telling you how much and what types of aid you are eligible for.  Along with that award letter will be instructions on when the money will be available and how you can receive it...and most importantly, what you need to do to keep it (usually finish all your classes with a certain gpa).
