well i have always wanted to get into gymnastics but my mom wanted me to be a ballerina, so thats what ive been doing for the past 10 years. now im 14 and i want to start gymnastics and im really flexible and have good balance and i was wondering if its not too late for me to start?

my mom said that if i can get a back hand spring, a scorpion, and a bow and arrow in three weeks she'll put me in gymnastics, so does anyone have any suggestions? i mean i can pretty much do the scorpion and bow and arrow, but i would like some extra help.

here's pictures of it if you don't know what they are. (not me in the pics)

  1. Its definitely not too late!  Do you need help learning the back handspring?  If that's your question, just try asking one of the cheerleaders or gymnasts at your school to give you some pointers and spot you for a bit and I'm sure you'll get it in no time!  Good luck!

In retrospect, if you don't know any cheerleaders or gymnasts, try going to the gym that you would join if it's neat your house.  Explain the situation and I'm sure they'll help you as well!

  2. its not too late to start gymnastics

but you might feel out of place for a while

  3. If you have a community center near you, you may be able to find someone who teaches classes that knows about gymnastics. Mostly, you're going to need to do a lot of practice... But honestly, if it's something you're passionate about, your mom should let you do it no matter what. That's just my own opinion, and something I would do for my child. Good luck!

  4. It's YOUR life, not your Mom's!  She should have let you do what YOU wanted to do in the first place.  She should NOT be making you work to be able to study what YOU want, since you already gave it up to study what she wanted!  What an incredibly selfish Mom you have!!!

  5. wow what a mam! if you want to do gymanstics you should be able to do it. no offence but i dnt like controlling parents like that. Its not like your choosing to go do drugs, its a sport that you like. and gymnastics is a great sport, i love it!

  6. No, your mom obvoiusly doesn't understand gymnastics. Because your flexible you could probably do the scorpion and bow and arrow. But a back handspring in 3 weeks is extremely hard to impossible to do. Take your mom to the gymnastics place when you go for class, and have a gymnastics coach tell her how learning that skill in that short amount of time, is just not going to happen. Sign up for lessons pronto. Also, tell your mom you have a passion for it. Your only 14, starting high school yes you can start gymnastics.
