I made a mistake by not playing out Malinga: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/OA-Shah-c2134 – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SL-Malinga-c2540, claiming he should have played him out during the two teams’ clash on April 11 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
“I think I made a mistake by not playing out Lasith Malinga who is dangerous. I didn't have to, perhaps, try to play some shots against him, should have stuck around, seen Malinga off and, maybe, attack the other bowlers,” Shah said after the Royals conceded
a 27-run defeat to the Mumbai Indians – their first loss in the current season.
The match commenced with luck favouring the Royals, who won the toss and chose to field. However, their bowlers were unable to contain the 96–run partnership of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ambati-Rayudu-c1007 (47).
Chasing 198 (the highest score in the current IPL seasons so far), the Royals found an anchor in the partnership of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ajinkya-Rahane-c970 (40) and Shah, who went on to top score with 76 off 42. Having enabled his side to recover from the early losses of skipper
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shreevats-Goswami-c2518 (0), Shah had managed to get his side up to 134 by the 15th over, and was in his stride before a deadly yorker by Malinga led to his abrupt dismissal.
“Lasith Malinga … has a very lethal yorker. I made a mistake,” the 33-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 batsman pointed out.
“… at the end of the day you need to win, my efforts went in vain. I tried my best to try and win the game, get us as close as possible. The best players perhaps take you all the way and win the game,” he said, going on to add that the finishing touch had
been missing from his innings, which he would have considered well played if he had gone one to win the match for his team.
While the previous match ended in defeat (the Royals’ first loss of the season), Shah has plenty of time to learn from his mistakes as the next clash between the two teams is scheduled for May 20 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
