http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-c89347 to get him selected in the national team. He has also
expressed satisfaction on his brother’s International career and predicted the future of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s cricket as bleak.
Tariq revealed that his father wanted him to get higher education and, so, he had to stop his career but he struggled a lot for Shahid’s progress by seeing his great ambition for the game.
He argued that it is not possible for any player to make inroads in the national team of Pakistan without contacts and references, so he arranged everything for Afridi’s easy elevation to the peak of success. Tariq seems to be satisfied with his brother’s
skills and achievements.
Talking to the media today, Tariq said, “Shahid was a little boy then, and I thought to myself that let me make my father happy and study, and maybe I can do something for Shahid as well. Thus, I put a stop to my cricket ambitions and concentrated on my
education... This pleased my father as it made him proud that his son had studied engineering from a college - his wish had come true.”
He further told, “For Shahid, I worked on making contacts. I guess, I paved the way for Shahid's progress and in a way sacrificed my ambition.”
Afridi, who accomplished a lot in very short span of his International career, had to get conditional retirement from the team two months back following his rift with the then coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Leicestershire-c807,
an English County Cricket side.
Afridi’s world record of the fastest ODI century is still unbroken. Apart from it, he poses to be the highest wicket taker in T20I format.
The 31-year-old made his international debut in 1996. He played 27 Tests, 325 ODIs and 43 T20Is before getting retired.
His tenure as a captain was the peak time of the Pakistani cricket in recent history. He marvellously led his side to the semi-finals round of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2011.
