I got a ticket driving to work in Houston and mailed in my payment. I've just started receiving letters from attorneys saying there's a warrant out because I failed to appear in court even though I sent in the payment.

  1. You need to drive down there and hand them the money.  Cancel the check.

Bring your check register with you - although it won't be the "best" evidence that you sent it in, it sounds like that is all you have.

Since you are not contesting the citation you should be able to resolve this quickly!  Call them now!

  2. The first thing you should do is contact the court. If the payment was postmarked before the due date, they may vacate the warrant.

If not, there is probably an additional warrant fee you have to pay, and they may be holding the check until full payment is received.
