i'd like to make it ahead... maybe 2 quarts at a time. it's tomato sauce and a litany of spices.... not cooked (til you add it to the meat). can i make this ahead, and put in tightly sealed jars and store it in the pantry ??

  1. You'll have to heat it and place into canning jars and then a hot water bath.

I would freeze it in ziploc bags.

  2. I suggest you freeze it. All foods get contained without spoiling that way.. My mother always does that :)

  3. It may be better to put in some good freezer ziplock bags and freeze it. It'll keep fine, and you can thaw it out a bag at a time. Depends on how long you want to make it ahead of time. Even in jars, I'd store it in the refrigerator for any short periods.

  4. You can put it in freezer containers and freeze it. I make my Grandmothers spaghetti sauce recipe, it makes a dutch oven full and I freeze it all the time. I just use the Glad containers,
