I have had an eating disorder (bulimia) and have been self injuring for 3 years.

A couple of months ago i started going to a psychologist and she has helped me through cognitive behavioural therapy to control my self injury urges and stop cutting myself.

But my eating disorder is a moch more complex and stubborn issue.

Now that she is leaving me, i dont know weather i can tell another psychologist all my problems and explain my darkest secrets to another person all over again.

I'm also not sure if i even want help for my eating disorder yet...

what are your oppinions?

  1. Congratulations to getting a physciologist <<Hah i can't spell.

    Nobody knows about my bullimia.

Find a new physcologist and just think it is the same one.

  2. well she is leaving I am sure if you ask her for the names of some DR's you can check if you feel confident with them , my DR. choose a really god dr. for me  because he knows my attitude, I,m a very hipper person so he send me w/ a DR. that is more calm and it did work for me good luck to you hope this helps you

  3. That sucks that she's leaving now that you opened up to her....

Maybe you could ask your psychologist to voice record some notes and some tips to guide you through a little bit before she leaves.

  4. Well if she's leaving, you may need to find someone else.  Maybe there is a way you can talk to her about your concerns and she can help you find someone?  It's always good to get recommendations from doctors about other doctors.  She will have someone she knows to help you out, and can maybe talk to them for you about your feelings and it can all work out.  Given your past and your current problem with bulimia, I don't think its wise to stop seeing someone yet.  It'll take courage, but you did it before, you can most certainly do it again!

Plus, bulimia is a scary disorder that you need to make sure you take care of.  You are still hurting your body, and although you recognize this, remember that sometimes you need extra help to get you through it.  Talk to your therapist and I know if she has already helped you she will not leave you without making sure you are okay.

  5. i think that opening up to a psychologist in a cognitive manner has more to do with yourself rather than the psychologist. that is to say, it's all about what's going on inside of you, not who you are interacting with. if you don't want help for your problems, then you never would have sought out help in the first place. i'm really not one to say that the general normal behavior is something to set yourself by, but if you're hurting yourself that's no good :-/ find another psychiatrist and at least give it a shot. good luck!

  6. Find another psychologist.

If you can work with one psychologist, you can work with another.

I had bulimia in the past.  I think I am getting better now.  I had it for years, off and on, since I was a teenager.

E-mail me though yahoo 360 if you need emotional support or ways to deal with it.
