I married an illegal immigrant whom stated that his paperwork was in the process of being completed before he met me. Well not knowing much about the immigration laws. I said okay. But I found out later on that his Visa expired in January 2008. So now he's only working with a passport. But he has filed more paperwork now that we have gotten married and I had to give him all this information on me. From Check Stubs to W-2's to even a letter from my job stating how much I make an hour and how often I am paid a month. But we got an marriaage license here in my home state...and we got married is our marriage legal? and are we really married? Because I feel that I have been used. And he is so sneaky and secretive with some things. I am confused someone help me

  1. if he is using you divorce him thats something you got to figure out on your own

  2. Yes you are legally married. The items he has asked from you are all needed to file to become legal BASED on your marriage. If you feel something else is wrong go with your gut. Report him. Annul the marriage. But if you are only concerned because he asked for your tax return it is part of the petition that is supposed to be filed (by you) for him to get his green card.

  3. Get your marriage annulled and report him to the immigration authorities NOW!

  4. Legally, even if you marry an Alien, you are married. However, since you feel you have been used, you can always file a divorce and will get it easily. If your husband did cheat, I would say you should go for the divorce.

  5. Yes, your marriage is valid no matter what his legal status is. Maybe you got married too fast. If he is secretive and sneaky with some things, why did u marry him?

Depending on when your started filing his paperwork after you got married, he will be panalized more (as in sent back to his country for 5-10 years) only if he is here illegally for more than 6 months. If here illegally for less than 6 months things will go more smoothly for him (immigration-wise).

  6. You are now an accomplice, and will probably go to jail. : )

  7. Yes, you are being taken for a ride.  You are the victim of marriage fraud.  Penalty: up to 10 yrs in prison (typically 5) and $250,000 fine for you, deportation for him.  Immediately see an attorney who specializes in divorce/Family Law and file for an annulment based on his defrauding you.  He lied about his status as an illegal alien to get you to get him a green card and to support him until he does.

Get him out of your house.  Change your bank (he already has all your bank info, doesn't he?), and ensure he cannot get the info about it.  Ditto for any sort of financial account, credit card, etc.  Protect yourself and your assets!  Get all of this done before he finds out you are filing for the annulment!

As soon as you file for the annulment, contact ICE (see their website for the Hotline number and the district office which includes your state.  Report that you are annuling the marriage because he defrauded you, that you only learned he was here illegally after your marriage, that you will not sponsor him, and that he may have filed immigration documents without your knowledge or consent.  Get that you-know-what deported pronto!

  8. Your marriage is real, but it is based on deception on your husband's part.  I would seek an annulment immediately on that basis.  It sounds as though he were using you to gain legality of him being in this country.  I am sorry.

  9. That' horrible.  He used you.  The INS will figure it out shen they pop in and he doesn't know your middle name, pet name, your 1st school.  Like a lot of jerks, this one used you.  He also took advantage of you illegally and married you to get his green card.  He was only here temporary and by marrying you, he was able to "buy the farm".  File for divorce and notify immigration.  You can call them and speak to someone anonymously.  They can help you.

If you threaten to divorce him and he starts saying he loves you, he never used you for your citizen status, bla bla, then you know he's sucking up to you.  Good Luck.  Move forward with your life and let him go back to his home, the jerk.

  10. Sorry no feeling sorry for you here.

Yep, you are married, so deal with it.

    No American men?

Now you need a lawyer, is not love grand!

Sorry when you marry illegal law breakers, you get what you get!

Can you say sucker, I am a fool?

    You should feel bad.

He put the moves to you and you fell in love.

  11. Girl he is using you! You need to get your marraige annulled ASAP! Report that he lied to you, it is considered a fraudulent marraige. If this guy was really true to you which I can see that he is not, he wouldnt be secretive about anything.

  12. yes your marriage is legal. but if you want an annulment, you are right in there, because he used fraud
