I downloaded and opened an .exe file that didn't do what it was intended for. Now whenever i load windows vista i get a window pop up titled gpedits with the following error message: Patch applied successfully! If your software is still trial maybe you need to install it before patch. (OK)

When i click OK it goes away and comes back about 30 seconds later.

It doesn't seem to have any adverse effects on the performance of the PC and nothing has stopped working. I can stop it from re-appearing by stopping the process in the task manager but it just comes back again each time i log on and i can't find anything to stop it on start up in the MSCONFIG window either. How can i get rid of this? (oh and BTW my Norton antivirus is up-to-date and isn't picking anything up.

  1. Hello

NOD suggest you use your computer to conduct a comprehensive killing viruses and Trojan horses

    And repair your registry files

  2. I had exactly the same problem..I registered to a french forum and they managed to solve that problem on my computer easily..that's the site: http://www.libellules.ch/phpBB2/

But of course it's in french, and I'm not sure that there's an english speaking zone..I can't tell you the solution myself, because it often varies depending on the user...

Try to contact the administrator to see if they understand english, so that your problem could be solved...If they don't, you can try writting "gpedits" on google, there are surely a few results in english that could lead you to a solution..
