I may need some weight loss help?

Age: 18 years old

height: 6ft 1in

weight: 242 lbs

My questions are...

What is the average weight for an individual of my height?

How soon can I loose 20-30 pounds starting September 1st within 3-6 months? If that sounds a bit unrealistic, which I completely understand, then how soon can I loose 20lbs within 6 months

I do have a relatively decent amount of muscle mass but my fat is 27%-30% of my body- i checked

Recently I have been working out at home doing bicep curls, triceps and a little bit of my back. My biggest problem is I do not have the ability to run due to a surgery which happened one month ago

By early September it seems like I should be getting back on my feet, what do you re-co the type of food I should stay away from, how many hours per week i should hit the gym/ days. I also work 80 hours per week as a stockbroker so its a heck of a lot tougher then you folks think :) ... Thanks for the info, very much appreciated

  2. Losing 20-30 pounds in 6 months is a very reasonable and sensible goal. Two pounds (or 1 kilogram) of weight loss a week is generally considered to be healthy weight loss. If you believe you can achieve your goal then you will.  

    It is good that you are doing weights cause that will help. We need muscle in order to burn fat efficiently. Muscle is a very active tissue, so burns fat even while resting. Every pound of muscle you have will burn 50 extra calories per day.

    I know you can't run but you need to be doing some form of cardio for at least 30 minutes everyday. This is essential for burning calories.  Are you able to cycle or swim?

    If you burn more calories than you take in (achieved through a healthy eating plan), build up muscle through strength training and complete 30 minutes of solid cardio a day then weight loss is a certainty. Best of all if you keep these habits for life then you will never see significant weight gain again.

  3. Get a wii fit board an use for an hour every day. it tests your BMI as well and that well tell you what weight your supposed to be for you height. You sound like your obsesses with losing weight here, i advise you to see someone in the health department.  

  4. You need exercise and not to eat more rice .. drink more plenty of water and drink green tea too... its the best of diet.. like me im 11 im fat in 3 months i lose 30 pounds .. good luck BUDDY ^_^
