I messed up a desk with a formica top- how can i fix it?

i bought a small wooden desk with the intent to refinish the wood because it was old looking. i realized afterwards that the top is a very realistic looking wood facade formica. the problem is that i refinished the wooden bottom part, but i stained it the wrong color and doesn't match the formica/plastic on top. is there a way to paint the plastic or smthing so that it somewhat matches? or is it hard to replace the top of the desk with wood?

You can get a Formica primer paint which you use as a base coat then put what colour you want on the top.

All you have to do is buy a thinner for the area that you stained strip the stain off. Then buy the stain that matches the top of the table
