It looked like what happens when you microwave a cd, and it shrank the bag of sun chips. It was one of the coolest things I have ever seen. But is it still safe to cook food in my microwave?

  1. The bag, obviously, was not microwave-safe but the chips are. They can be heated in a microwave-safe bowl NEXT TIME.

  2. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be safe. Unless there's something wrong with your microwave that you haven't mentioned then it really seems like it would be fine. What does happen when you microwave a CD?

  3. Yes it it, but remember not to eat the sun chips if you cooked them in the bag. Plastics release chemicals when put in the microwave - no plastic is safe to microwave.

  4. I would not eat it , may not be safe .

  5. why would u microwave those things? esp. a cd?? the only thing ive ever microwaved that turned out to b a mistake was foil. i dont know what happens when u microwave a cd, so i dont know what it looks like, but i wouldnt be surprised if its still safe. u only microwaved food, so i dont see what the danger would b. im surprised it would shrink tho... well, considering u had the bag in there to, it might make a health diff., but i dont see why.

edit: i beg to differ "dyvn". there ARE some microwave-safe plastics out there! if fact, ive got one that simply says "when microwaving, vent lid". "caution: container may be hot". sounds pretty safe to me dyvn!
