  1. What do you mean.... Smelly?  keep its cage clean and the smell will be tolerable.  As for mean... lets just say rats would be a lot nicer & smarter.  (or i suggest chinese dwarf hamsters; mine rarely ever bite me! :D)

Oh, and the guy who said many people dont like rats they dont like them because they havent had them, not from expierience!  anyone whos had rats most likely is in love with them

  2. Many people dont like them but rats make far better pet then hamsters. Rats tend to be much cleaner and smarter as well as friendler I have two myself and my three year old daugther can hold them they are not as fragile then hamsters.. Hope this helped

  3. You may want a different pet then!ALL hamsters are smelly! But most are pretty nice! You have to handle your hamster a lot and pay attention to them!

  4. i have had 2 hamsters in my life.

My favorite one, died november 2nd last year. it was one of the most devestating times in my whole life.  a hamster is so lovable, when that adorable little creature dies..im sorry but you wont have dry eyes for like a month..

if you want the most cutest, puffiest, softest and nicest hamster everrrr. get a male teddy or fancy bear hamster. those are the best. theyre fun to play with. and they love humans.

  5. All hampsters stink.. my brother had one and his room smelled like pee all the time. He cleaned the cage about once a week. The horrible part was that he didnt even recognize the smell because i guess he was used to it. If you dont mind the smell then i reccomend a long haired dwarf hampster. they are so cute and the one that my brother had was very nice. You just need to leave them alone the first two days while they are getting used to the new home. Then you can try to take them out. There is probably a bedding you can get to minimize odors. And i think Febreeze has a pet odor spray.

  6. hamsters arent smelly or mean. just keep them clean with fresh bedding n food n water. if u treat them nice obviously they're gonna trust u and wont bite u.

    :D

and pick out any hamster that u would lyk to have as a pet. because its u whos gonna play with it and take care of it.

  7. Well, all hamsters will smell eventually. just pick out an odor absorbing bedding. That would help reduce the smell. With all the breeds of hamsters, I would say just pick one out of your interest. If you would like a hamster that you would like handling, then you shouldn't get the SMALLEST robo hamster. If you would like to handle a robo hamster though, get the biggest one. That way, you can handle it without the bites. Trust me on this one. hope that this helps!
