  1. I HIGHLY RECOMEND you to not buy this horse. Mustangs were bred as wild horses and will always have a wild instinct. I have a mustang and he has a great personality but he has those moments where his wild instinct kicks in and really gets me hurt. Your best bet would be to buy a quarter horse(their easy keepers) with no vices, or medication needs.

  2. heres a basic list-

who trained him? is he trained? what style? western or english?

    food he eats

if you can ride him, test ride him

has he coliced? any other diseases or illnesses?

does he need shoes? when does he need new ones? 4-6 weeks? every 8 weeks?

    his pedigree

is he an outdoor horse? does he need stabling?

and any other questions you are curious about

  3. ask if he is ok to ride and good with people and allergies and if it has or had any injuries

  4. I would ask about

    Gender?

    Height?

    Training?

    Previous Owners?

    Health issues?

    Previous Injuries?

    Colic Surgery (sp?)

    Allergies?

    Vices?

    Feed/Hay?

    Supplements?

    Good/Bad Feet (shoes?)

Does he lunge/need to be lunged?

Was he born wild or bred?

^ How long has he been in captivity?

^ Do they have his paper work?

    Does he have any quirks?

    Bath/clip/load/tie?

Make them tack up the horse and ride it first. If they rufuse they better have a mighty fine reason for doing so. I would go for a second visit where you can tack up/ride first. Get a vet check!!! I can not recommend one enough. Good Luck with him!!

  5. Has he raced? (racing can lead to arthritis)

What supplements is he on? (these can be expensive)

Does he have any vices? (kicking, bucking...)

Does he trailer well? (you need to know how to handle him)

How has he done in recent shows? Was he stressed?

Is he up to date with the vet and farrier?

    How are his manners?

    Does he spook at anything?

What is the price? Is it negotiable?

Has he been injured or sick recently?

Does he get along with other horses?

    Is he safe with kids?

    Is he allergic to anything?

Have there been any problems about anything? (dislikes certain toys, won't eat certain food...)

The people before said to ask the gender, but they also used "he" and so did you, so you already know the gender

Ride him before you buy him, and good luck!

  6. Ask what kind of things the horse has been doing! If the horse was a competitive barrel racer or showjumper, and all you want is a trail horse, you're just asking for trouble.

Ask for the name of their usual vet and talk to the vet about the horse's health, and get a pre-purchase exam with a vet that doesn't know the horse.

Ask if the horse requires special shoeing, what it usually eats, etc.

Basically, ask any question that is related to what you want to do with the horse. If you want to go on tons of trail rides but the horse spooks at water, you'd have to think about that before buying the horse.

  7. You should ask the following:

    Gender

    Allergies

    Medications

    What he likes

    What he dislikes

    Hope this helps!
