I don't know too much about it. I've just read that its good to have a degree in engineering and a solid background in math and physics. Do any of you have any other information about this career that i should know about? I appreciate your help, everyone :)

  1. First, to have a degree in engineering you HAVE to have a solid background in math and physics. They're not two separate requirements.

Second, any construction is designed by a team. I'm guessing you like the fancy job of coming up with the slopes to scare the customers, huh? But the design also requires structural design of the frame, architectural to make it visually pleasant and to fit within the land boundaries, mechanical and electrical to power it, the construction cost must be reasonable, and the operational costs must make it profitable.

Get an engineering degree first, but don't be surprised if you end up designing sewer lines (hey, they have slopes too!)

  2. Not a very popular job. I bet there are no more than 3 such designers in the US. How many new roller coasters do you think are designed and built per year? 2?
