because I promised my son ..after he made me feel guilty about wanting to watch the game ...that I would go and watch his supercross race tonight..... so, if anyone is still up and about that wouldn't mind giving me a little insight and run down to what I missed I would really appreciate it....I know the wings won...and by reading some of the question on here that Malkin didn't seem to have a very good game but Zetterberg played really well.....I am wondering what the feel of the game was like ...was it a hard fought all the way to the end.....did it keep you on the edge of your seat... .......I know I am not phrasing this question very well.. I would just like to have a little more insight to the game than the two minute run down I seen on sports center a little bit ago.....

  2. It was a battle from horn to horn. Zetterberg was possessed. Detroit's D was amazing, especially on the 5-on-3 w. just under 10 min to go. The Pens not being able to score was a stake thru the heart. A lot of amazing saves by both goalies. Hudler's winner was part luck, part skill. Malkin was non-existent, Pitt's D was porous, the Wings were able to move down the ice at will. The last 2.5 min I was pacing around the Den chomping on my fingernails. What an adrenaline packed ending!

  3. Yes. It was edge-of-your-seat excitement. I lost my voice yelling "come on, move your a***. and many other remarks for the pens. My voice literally sounded like a penguin's squawk after I lost the low tone in my voice. this was a very important game for the penguins. I thought it would be: penguins win game 4, lose game 5, in det., win game 6 in pitt, and go all the way to game 7. I was so mad and Beat my fists and head on the ground when the clock hit 0:00 until my head and fists stung. !!!!!  X( You penguins have failed me.

Now the pens need to win all of the last 3 games. 5,6,and 7.

They need to think like that Bee-Gees song, and remember this

"na- na- na- na- stayin' alive...  stayin' alive".

it's must-win  or blow the cup for the penguins. x( .

  4. Marian Hossa scored the first goal in the first on a powerplay.  Really nice goal by him.  The Wings responded by Lidstrom slapping one into the net 2 seconds after a powerplay of their own.  The second had no scoring but a lot of close calls.  Jiri Hudler scored one past Fluery's left arm 3 minutes into the third.  Then the Penguins had a 5-3 power play for over a minute and could not convert.  Zetterberg was able to keep Crosby from netting the game tying goal.  2-1 was the final score, with the Wings being a little more dominant than last game.

  5. It was a hard-fought game from the start. The Penguins immediately iced the puck after the opening faceoff. That didn't bode well, but Hossa's beauty of a power play goal made up for it.

Lidstrom sent a rocket into the back of the net, stepping up from the point, to tie it.

Second period exciting but no scoring.

Tiny Darren Helm hit Orpik with an open ice check at the blue line to gain the puck and somehow passed it to a streaking Jiri Hudler, who put it over Fleury's shoulder before Fleury could react. His arm was coming up as the puck went in.

The five on three penalty kill was a thing of beauty for a Wings fan. Their triangle defense baffled the Penguins and Zetterberg even broke into the Pens' zone with the puck. There were all three Wings standing at the Pitt blue line as the Penguins tried to regroup. Therrien had to call a timeout to remind them they had a two-man advantage, but the Pens never got a shot on net. Zetterberg made a beauty of a defensive play to take the puck from Crosby before he could beat Osgood.

During empty net time, Detroit showed class by not shooting for a goal, but playing defense and just sending the puck deep.

Malkin and Gary Roberts show up on the box score, but they were invisible on the ice. Zetterberg was giving everyone fits with his defensive play. Crosby was yapping at him after the game.

  6. Goals

    1st period 1-1

    Pit- Hossa 2:51

    Det- Lidstorm 7:06

    2nd period 1-1

    No Scoring

    3rd Period 2-1

    Hudler 2:26

Detroit Won Game 4 and Lead Series 3-1

  7. Great game!!! The Penguins scored first which Detroit doesn't usually win without scoring the first goal away. It was a nail biter and a tough and rough game. Zetterberg did something amazing. He got down to net and what should have been a goal because Osgood didn't have much of a chance and quickly at the last second, redirected the puck away from the net. Lots of fights, words and action. Penalties for both teams and Detroit played a 3 on 5 and still killed the penalties. Crosby (Penguins Captain ) played dirty on one play. He lost his stick that broke and was on the ice , quickly got another one and then pushed the broken stick in front of a Red Wing. That could have been disastrous. Both teams had power plays and Penn's got their first goal on a PPG. Crosby showed his frustration but the Red Wings were cool because they are older and wiser and have been in the playoffs time and time again. Red Wings didn't make good on the empty net but that's okay ....they WON 2-1. One more game and I hope they win in Detroit on Monday night. It was an edge of your seat game. Sorry you missed it as I am a mother too, but grown children in different states and I understand that you had to be there to support your son like a good parent should. A mad dash to the Detroit net that landed a Penguin right into the net.
