I missed all but the last 30 minutes of the race today, can anyone give me a breakdown of it?

I went to a wedding in south Louisiana last night and was on my way home during the race today (had a great time but I'm still feeling the after effects). I know I could just go to nascar.com, but sometimes you get better info from the fans!

I came in right about the time that Jamie McMurray got into the back of my man Dale Jr. I can understand how something like that could happen since his spotter didn't tell him what was going on and he was looking much further down the track.

What I don't understand is the backstory of what happened between Kyle Busch and Juan Montoya. I saw Montoya spin Busch and heard the commentators talking about something that happened 50 or so laps before then, but I don't know what that was.

  1. the backstory on the jpm/kyle thing - i think they were both racing to see who could be the most hated driver in nascar.  kyle was winning that contest and jpm figured if he couldn't be more hated, maybe he could just hit the most hated driver. so he did, under caution.

but seriously, the two of them were around each other much of the day and probably "just rubbin' and racin'" around a short flat track. then when the caution fell for the bowyer/hornish get-together, it looked like they bounced off each other a time or two trying to "get in line" under caution first. rowdy "rubbed him" the wrong way getting in front of him and jpm got mad. so montoya decided to show that a road racer like himself could turn left as well as right - and he turned left, very obviously with intent, right into kyle's back right quarter panel, spinning him to the right. kyle "saved it" by spinning back around and in doing so, ran smack dab into montoya.  montoya said after the race he did it on purpose, he was called to the trailer, and was penalized two laps - so he finished 32nd instead of 26th.

  2. Sure rain and more rain and then more rain.

Kurt Busch won, due to rain only, otherwise, he would have never finished in the top ten, if full race had been run.

Jaimie got into JR, JR was headed for the pits and Jaimie thought JR was in farther than he was.

JR said was no ones fault.

race ended, due to rain, full race not done, dang it..

Tony said was disappointed by the rain, said he had the car to win to day.....

  3. it sucked

  4. Green Flag at 2:16 p.m. Eastern Time

Patrick Carpentier jumped out front and led the first 5 laps.

Harvick ran him down andd led a while. Harvick Pulled to a 3 second lead and Dale Jr started roaming through the field. Dale Jr ran down Harvick and took over the lead. Martin Truex Jr was running 3rd at that point. First Caution came out Dario spun out.

Restart. Fast Forward Rain is on the way. Tony Stewart has been a very dominating driver. A few laps later Sam Hornish and Clint Bowyer tangled together which in turned caused a caution which than led to the contact between Juan and Rowdy. It seemed like Juan was racing Kyle Busch back to the line Kyle side swiped him and Juan tried to spin him but Kyle Busch turned the wheel back and spun out Montoya which almost took out 3 other cars. Rain Finally came. Kurt Busch, Michael Waltrip, JJ Yeley, Martin Truex Jr, Elliott Sadler stayed out. and NASCAR finally called it and Kurt Busch won.

From what I remember. I hope this helped. I found this race to be very interesting.
