I missed my MOT by 2 months. Will I incur any charges for this? Do I just need to go to a garage and get it MOT'd as normal?

  1. You'll only get a fine if you get caught.

  2. book an MOT asap, until then dont drive the car. no MOT will invalidate your insurance. you can legally drive your car to the MOT station for the MOT though.

  3. What's an MOT?

  4. you should get it to the garage and book it in for an mot a.s.a.p or if you get pulled over by the fuzz( cops) before you pass the mot then you will be done if they find out as you are not allowed to drive it until you have a full mot (but you can drive the car to the garage, because if you do get pulled over then you can tell then you are taking it to a garage for the mot and they should let you go, but they may follow you to the garage

    hope this helps

  5. Don't worry, you obviously haven't been caught so just get the mot as soon as you can.  The garage has no interest in when it ran out, only the police.

  6. buy a forged passport and leave the country NOW.

  7. You won't incur any charges unless you get caught on the road with it.. Get it booked in for the test as soon as you possibly can and you'll be fine.

  8. Just make an appointment to get it done at a garage,  When you have made the appointment you are covered to drive it to the garage and to drive it home if it fails.

  9. You will not incur any charges.. But if the police stop you and you have no MOT. there is a £1000 fine, so get your car along to a MOT garage.. you do not get penalty points for not having an MOT

  10. Jsut get it MOT'd as normal, it makes no difference to the garage testing it.

Though if you get caught driving without one you'll be fined etc. And these days all MOTs are stored on a national database, so the police etc already know your car is without MOT.

The only legitimate time you can use your car without MOT is when you are actually taking it to the garage for an MOT you have already booked.

  11. Just book it in and get it done ASP.

Be warned it is an offence to drive the vehicle until you have a valid test certificate. However, you are allowed to drive to a PRE BOOKED

MOT by the shortest reasonable route. If it fails you can take it home or to a place of repair provided it is not unsafe to drive

  12. If you get stopped by the plods you will get a fine and points on your licence. You must book your motor in for an MOT. You are only allowed one journey to the MOT centre. Worse still any traffic warden will inform the police if you don`t have your MOT disc displayed. Also if you have an accident your insurance is automatically void (Cancelled) so no cover.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but that's life!!

  13. As almost evreyone else has said you won't incur a fine like you would if you hadn't paid for road tax but you should only now drive it to a pre-booked MOT. If you carry on using it and you are stopped by the police then you'll be fined and have a few points. Just count yourself lucky you weren't stopped by plod previously.
