I missed the news..Did China really fake the fireworks?

Not all of them (from what I heard) only the footsteps up to the birds nest. They did actually have those footsteps but they showed the people watching on tv a computer graphic that they had made to replicate it, just in case the fireworks didn't go according to plan - I think those were the only "fake" ones.

omg u gotta watch the news  that chick above me is right they turned down this girl cause they said she was to ugly but she had a beautifal voice so they stuck a little cutie girl in her place n she was lip sync-ing  the ugly girl was singing but we wer watchin the cute girl lip sync to the ugly girl urrr u just gotta be watchin the news lol i do n im  16 haha yeh they did fake the fireworks but i dunno the story to that they did something  but yea

Yes - not only did they fake it they boasted that it had taken them nearly two years to get it right!!

But given the huge amount of fakes coming out of China why does that surprise you?!!
