  1. It depends on what your disposal company says.  Where I am we have one bin for plastic, glass and metal containers.  A separate one for paper.  The disposal company picks them up on the same days as our garbage.

  2. It depends on the system. When the material gets picked up, it may be all dumped into the truck together, whether you've separated it or not. At the plant it might be sorted by hand or it might be sorted mechanically, or there may be a combination of the two. Just keep recycling.

  3. No because glass and plastic are separated at the placee where they recycle the stuff. You get money if you recycle them at a supermarket like vons, albertsons, stater bros, or something like that.

  4. I was wondering the same thing? My six year old just got me into recycling here in the last year.

  5. If you have a curbside recycle program it is best to check with them about how to sort. Unfortunately some cities won't sort a "contaminated batch" and may toss the whole thing into the landfill. If your city has a website see if they have instructions or call your solid waste department, the phone number should be located in the blue pages of the phonebook under either the city or county.

  6. It depends on your recycling center. Curbside municipal programs are mostly co-mingled. Take it yourself centers, yeah...that's a problem.  To find out for sure contact your specific program.

If you have space for trash you have space for recycling correctly. You may just have to get creative or dump it more frequently.

  7. Yes. They have to pay to have it done.

  8. Not really, they run the stuff through a machine that separates everything anyway.

  9. Yeah...but don't worry, I do it to! =P
