I'll have my own basement, what do I pack? I'm moving across country for this job.

  1. I moved from WA to NY to nanny when I was 19.  I moved from my parents house, so I didn't take much and I was fine!  I came home with a lot more than I left with though!  If you're flying, I'd pack most of your clothes into boxes and mail them.  Other than clothes...take pictures or little things to decorate with, addresses of your friends and family, iPod (or whatever you use for music), DVD player(if they don't have one for you), camera, alarm clock.  The great thing about being a live-in nanny, is you have hardly any expenses!  It's fun to go out shopping for things you didn't bring and learn more about the area.  Be careful with the family though....that they don't take advantage of the fact that you're always there and try to get you to work 24/7 just cause you're around.  I had a great family and when I was off, I was off.  I met other nannies who where horribly taken advantage of and they didn't have near as good of an experience as I did!  Good luck!

  2. That's pretty exciting!  It is furnished, like with a tv/dvd player, and everything? Is it just a bedroom or like a full apartment with kitchenette? If it has a kitchenette, maybe ask about whether they have supplied dishes, microwave ect.

Well, you will need all your clothes, and think about the different climates.  I'd bring my own bedding (just a personal comfort thing), toiletries, towels, camera, some personal things to remind you of home and your family and friends like photos, don't forget your swimsuit and a good pair of running shoes (essentials for a nanny to have!)

    Good luck!
