  1. Yes, you can homeschool in New York.  The laws are a bit more restrictive, but a lot of kids there are homeschooled.  Here's a link to the laws and regs: http://www.hslda.org/laws/analysis/New_Y...

There are some great curriculum choices open to you.  Since you're 12, you would need someone home with you, but you're old enough that you should be able to do a decent amount of your work independently.  Does your dad work from home, or is there anyone that can stay with you/you can stay with?

You shouldn't need to confront your dad - he honestly may not be aware that homeschooling is a possibility.  The laws are a bit odd (as are many of them in NY), so I would suggest joining HSLDA or a similar organization, but it should be doable.  I would also suggest getting in touch with homeschool groups in your area - there may be co op classes, clubs, social opps like game nights, etc. for you to participate in.

You aren't required to go to the school in your area by any government agency; you do have options.  Just be honest with your dad and let him know that you don't feel safe there, and that you feel like you'd be sacrificing your education.  It sounds like he cares about your safety and well-being, and if you're up front with him, you'll likely find that he's willing to listen.

    Hope that helps!

  2. I am not sure of the home schooling laws in NY, but your father may be able to sign you up as a homeschooler. Try www.hslda.org for information about the law in your state, or just google home schooling new york state. Hope this helps you.

  3. I homeschool my son and the first thing you should do is go to www.HSLD.com to see what the laws are for homeschool in your state. Print it out and then search for curriculums that you can use. I use Sonlight with my son and its a Liturature Based Curriculum and we love it. I know you are young and want your dad to listin to you so print out the info. and study and learn as much as you an about homeschool  so that he knows how seriouse you  are when you present the info to him.  If you are honest with your father and show him how excited you are about homeschool I think that he would be very proud of you.  Good Luck!!! I hope this helps you.
