I just moved to Milan 10 days ago. I am a black american male and I am in DESPERATE need of a Barber Shop. In NYC there are different barber shops for people of color and people of non-color (Not becasue of discrimination but just because of the difference in cutting hair) I have been told by some people that in MIlan...EVERYONE (black/italian/white) has their hair cut at the same places. Does anyone know where I can go to get my hair cut??? PLEASE!!

Also, I speak no Italian so it has not been working well to go up to people on the streets and ask

Help Please!

...James

  1. hi james... i live in milan, my boyfriend is black and he uses to go for his hair in via vitruvio (near stazione centrale and corso buenos aires!)...

there is a good barber shop ran by a funny woman from eritrea!

  2. I live in Milano and I could say you better go to a barber shopo in the center of Milano 'cause mabe they will speak english as there are a lot of tourists in the center. There is a very good one in Via S.Tomaso close to Via  Rovello (close to Via Dante) , the do both men and women. Hope this helps you

  3. OMG, I moved from milano, to nyc to florida, where i live now, I couldn't find out either, good luck

    ciao

  4. Hi James, and welcome to Milan. Hope you like it here...despite your hair problems... I searched the web and found these for you:

    AFRO SHOP CLEOPATRA

    Corso Buenos Aires, 35

    Tel. 02-29515075

    GEMEL

    Via M. Melloni, 16

    Tel. 02-70002374

    Fax 02-717073

    BLACK & WHITE UNISEX SALON

    Via Napo Torriani

    Tel. 02-67071796

I found them in a web site for Africans in italy: www.inafrica.it but I'm afraid it is only in italian.

Good luck and if u need any help just contact me. I live on the lake of Como but work in Milan, so I know quite a lot about this area

  5. Hi, I live in Italy but not in Milan.  Try going to an African barber shop.  I don't know where the African neighborhood is in Milan but try asking for the "quartiere africano" or asking where the African shops are "Scusi, sa dove sono i negozi africani?".  If you want, just ask an African person for help.  Most speak English or French.

  6. Toni & Guy Milano +39 02 48028361

    Triglia +39 02 876825

two barber shops in Milan which I know, hope this will help

  7. Hi James! OK, don't panic! The barber in Italy is called  "barbiere" OR "parrucchiere per uomo", which is an actual hairdresser for men. The latter will give, let's say, a more complete range of hair "services", from washing, to cutting, to styling, to dyeing.  I don't live in Milan, and you don't say what area you live in, but I found these on the web White Pages:
