  1. You don't need a JP to certify your birth certificate, you can get a police officer, public servant (5 years), etc.  Also there are JP's in every Post Office.

  2. You don't necessarily need a JP. Just go to the police station, they can certify it for you.

  3. Call the Justices of the Peace Hotline on 1300 365 567. They will ask for your postcode and you can find one this way. But the others are right, police officers, public servants, nurses etc can all certify document copies.

  4. Often people like chemists and social workers will get a JP status. Try one of those. You could also try your local legalaid office. try www.legalaid.gov.au
