  1. Why would you need two? Get the iphone definitely. One of the best in its class, although the price is hefty, its worth it by a mile. If you want to keep it protected, get a case for it off ebay, thatll keep it in near enough mint condition. Unless youre on building sites or something, then i suggest you look at some cheap Nokias.

    Good luck.

  2. i like the iphone but then the blackberry is another option :) :)

  3. What provider?  Sprint has the Nextel phones that are rated for like military usage.   And they have a bunch of PDAs.

  4. if you want a smartphone, then you DO NOT want an iphone. Many people do not consider it a smartphone because the only way you can install apps on it is through apples itunes... If apple doesnt want you to have a better internet browser with flash or java, you wont have one.

Next, the universal smartphone platform, java, is not supported on the iphone. The vast majority of smartphone apps are java.

Normally i would recommend a nokia, but the e71 has some major quality control problems. bad reception, unfortunate call quality, and frequent dropped calls.

i would recommend a blackberry bold. Very feature packed full qwerty with high quality control. It is pricey at the moment, but its also a brand new phone.

If you dont mind an older phone, then get the e61i. its a tried and tested smartphone with plenty of features. (but seriously, who wants a two year old phone?)

    now for the tough phone..

    casio gz one

there is also a motorola that is supposed to be the most rugged phone on the planet. they sell it in third world countries like mexico and canada (haha). its a sealed phone that is dust/water proof. it also has a rubber casing to prevent against shock. last i remember it had decent call quality, fantastic reception, but had no other features. it was $70

  5. JCB toughphone is perfect, you can run it over with a Jeep, take a shower with it or throw it out of the window and it will be fine. As for a Smartphone, it depends what your priorities are., The two phones you mention are the best around, but are diametrically opposed in strengths and weaknesses. The I-phone is media supremo, nothing can touch it, but you can't store or create documents etc. The E71 has just about everything you could want in a phone, but the Media functions are weaker. Off course the app store will improve all the time, but it depends on what you want the phone to do now. You would probably be better off buying an E71 (I have one, it's great) and an I-pod Touch.

  6. Samsung E370 is very durable in my experience, and my Siemens MC60 fell in a swimming pool and still works perfectly, although E370 has easier navigation/better features.

iphones are very expensive but nice looking, although you can get cheaper alternatives from almost all manufacturers with touch screens etc.

Might I also suggest buying reconditioned phones, as these are almost brand new and rejected from contract for silly reasons like "the keypad is too small" etc. they are also substantially cheaper.
