i have Confirmation on April 25th. and i need 20 hours of community service. i already have 7 hours i need 13 more!!

i play softball, and i dont really have much free time...but since spring vacation is coming soon i will be free.

There is an Animal Shelter near by, and i was just wondering if Walking the dogs, playing with them, or playing with the kittens would at least count as community service.

There is also a nursing home near me

Any other ideas i could do???

THANKS A MILLION!!!!!

  1. The nursing home would be a definite good one.  I'll bet they could really use you...... I'm an animal lover, but I always feel sorry for the elderly....many neglected by families.

  2. hit the soup kitchens or old folks home, pushing a wheel chair bound person to church will be fantastic.

sit and listen to an old timer talk bout life, you will leave enlightend

  3. I volunteer at an animal shelter and yes walking dogs and petting/playing with the animals will count. You will probalby also be asked to clean the kennels and feed the animals.

Maybe visiting at the nursing home would be considered community service. I know many residents their don't see their families very often and they love to have somebody to talk to. They probably have very interesting stories too. You may find it's something you would like to do long term.

  4. I had confirmation last year...

does your church have church dinners or breakfasts? Helping at them is a great way to get hours and respect from the parish.

see if you can get permission to be a greeter at church, this counted for us.

ask around to see if anyone in the neighborhood needs a babysitter or house cleaner...but remember that you can't be paid for the work or else it isn't community service.

does your school have a tutoring system? Voluntaring to tutor counts.

look for any charity events, walk-a-thons, or dance-a-thons...last year I did a 30 hour dance-a-thon which covered my community service part (even though I only needed 10)
