  1. This is probably a day late and a dollar short, but I asked my husband (who is from Lima)....

One thing in October is they have a cake called Turron, made from ground nuts and honey (it's delicious, I can't get enough!), that they eat for the Dia de los Santos, or day of the saints or something like that (I'm probably getting that wrong).

In August, there's a big festival in Cuzco and Macchu Picchu to thank Dios del Sol (God of the sun) and Dios de la Tierra (God of the Earth).

Also, they eat cats.  I know, disgusting.  Not everybody does it, but it does happen.  (We have 3 in the house...hopefully he realizes this isn't a buffet...).

Oh, and they drive really really badly.  They're very impatient on the road.  But on the other hand, they are sweet, generous people in person, who love to cook and dance and drink and have a good time with family and friends.  So go to a party with Peruvians - just drive a separate car!

  2. They chew/drink coca leaves and tea.  Yes, the indigenous people did this, as well.  The religious practice of indigenous people in Peru are not to be confused with those of heavy Catholic influence.  In contrast, the indigenous people very much believed in the spiritual realm of their country.  Many of their ruins contain one or more tables or slabs considered to be used for sacrificial purposes, including those of human beings.  Additionally, the indigenous people are known for their agricultural practices and cross-breeding of crops.  Some crops were known to have produced hundreds of different hybrids of various species of vegetables. They also displayed architectural detail and precision that cannot be found in modern day structures, often including construction of massive stone structures placed in exact, precise lines, one on top of the other.

This is just a brief overview...not sure if this is too late.  Peruvian cultural is amazing if you get the chance to experience it in person.  I hope someday you do....

  3. The tribs in Peru eat alive people who don't research properly and want others to do their homework.

There are TONS of websites, if you only took one minute of your time to do your research properly you would have found all thses things in less than a minute (the time it took you to post the question!)

  4. Here is information about the indigenous people of Peru:
