I need 'Blackberry 101!' I am a novice that got a refurbished BB7280, and I need help.?

Is there any source for training on the Blackberry phone. I guess it is more that a phone. If I can synch using the USB connection, I don't know if I need email. And if I need email, won't that cost more on my wireless cell phone provider? And what programs on my PC can I use to synch with the BB?
